Yo. I'm going to be interviewing Mathew Jonson/Cobblestone Jazz next week for TAPE, so if any of you lost have any questions you'd like me to put to him, please leave a comment in the usual way.
ask him about math, because his music makes me think about fractions multiplying.
ask him if performing live sets made him turn to using actual objects (outboard equipment) more in his music rather than standing behind the impersonal front of a computer screen on stage.
ask him about the relationship between physicality and sound.
ask him how he handles the dialogue between digital and analogue tools and how that influences his music.
I'm curious to know what is the part he gives to playing on electronic instruments or MIDIkeyboard whatever / loops.
For example 'the navigator and the gateway' on the gemini EP defenitely has a live feel, that makes it an outstanding song!
Anyways, I heard that the cobblestone's jazz live was very good... especially at Montreux Jazz festival (How did it feel to play there on the tracks of Miles davis...?)
I sat right by Mr Jonson's side four years ago, coming back from one Sonar Nights, in one of those buses. He had just released Alpine Rocket (Perlon 32 maybe), that awesome record. We had a little chat. He had chewed some mushrooms. My question is: did he find his afterparty and has he any plans os dropping that hat he's been wearing.
Please notify us if you are the artist/record company and would like something removed. All mp3's are temporary and are for evaluatory purposes only. Buy the records!
Whoever you are, send us music you think we might like...TAPE, 3a Alma Vale Road, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2HL, United Kingdom. richardcarnes@ hotmail.co.uk

Can you ask him if he would play at Mutant Pop for £150, a bag of chips and a night at Ricky C's gaff?
He was quality when I saw him live at Stealth in Nottingham and would dearly love to have him play in Bristol.

Ask him how improvised improvised electronic music is.
Sorry I have not visited here in a while, it looks like you guys have been killing it per usual again.
Need to spend some time lurking.
Ask him if he thinks Beatport's new prices are a total fucking rip off!
Ask him who are his major jazz influences? (favourite tracks, artists, albums).
Where next for house/techno?
Favourite club ever?
Any new artists/labels float his boat?
Cat or Dog?
cheers for the suggestions, all of 'em good, keep 'em coming - and apologies if i don't ask all of them.
